NXT 23rd October Review: What's Best for Business! Again

Going in blind for NXT this week and by that I mean I have no clue what to expect and not that I can't see the show, this review would be stupidly short if that was the case.
Emma vs. Sasha Banks: Smack talk and a push by Sasha. It's a 3 man booth this week with Tony, Alex Riley and someone else I have no clue who the guy is. Emma with a double leg takedown and head pounds. Emma gets a School girl for a 2 then arm drag and arm bar. Emma then gets her slide in sunset flip for a 2 and a cradle for another 2 then right back to the arm bar. Sasha hits a knee and makes fun of Emma's dance, looking like a little child in the process. Emma keeps getting thrown into the corner, Banks doesn't have much offensive moves here. Unsurprisingly Emma blocks the 4th attempt and throws Banks in there a number of times. Banks moves out of the way from a splash and Banks gets control back grabbing a rear chinlock leading to a break but we come back to the same hold on. Oh Tensai is on commentary what a strange thing to do with him and not even mention it off the top. Emma bridges back for a pin but Banks kicks out and grabs hold again. Emma finally gets out after forever but runs straight into a back elbow for a 2. Emma gets a slap and Banks goes crazy with clubs to the back but again she comes off as a little kid when she does it. Tensai brings up that Emma was trained by Lance Storm surprised that got in. Banks grabs the reverse chinlock again but Emma (like me) has had enough of it and break out immediately and starts fighting back with clotheslines. The dilEMMA gets put on followed by the Emma Sandwich for a 2. Catapult transition to the Emma lock but Rae jumps up, Paige makes the save but this distracts Emma allowing Banks to get a small package for the win. After Paige tries to clothesline Banks but hits Emma by mistake. This then just cut away randomly, a decent match between the 2 I think Banks has a longs way to go still and there was very little crowd reaction throughout. Winner: Sasha Banks
WWE.com exclusive is then shown, which negates the fact but whatever, with Bo Dallas from last week. He says he's still NXT champion and that's what matters and he's going to take a well deserved vacation. Such a geek but this character is working I will admit that. A video then plays highlighting the Corey Graves turn from last week, they added crowd noise for the match as there was none!
Graves is on the ramp and is going to give an explanation but Neville atacks from behind and the 2 brawl until referees break it up. Neville breaks away and hits a plancha. I know we're suppose to be really invested in this team breaking up but they were a thrown together team of a thrown together team this was meant to be Ohno & Graves.
Casey Maron & Tommy Taylor vs. The Ascension (Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor): Jobber A & B in the ring already. Please let this be quick! Chants of “Let's Go these guys” from the crowd proving my point that no one cares or likes the Ascension. Tie up by Casey & Conor leading to a body splash by Conor and tag to Rick with boots followed by chops & uppercuts. Firemen's carry slam to a tag and the Warrior shoulder blocks leading to another tag. Rick hits Taylor with a jumping knee, the Ascension then hit the H-Bomb and Total Elimination, which finally gets a name of The Fall of Man, for the win. The typical Ascension match here and by that I mean nothing of worth. Winners: The Ascension
WWE.com exclusive with Sami Zayn now, he says he had the title in his hands and he understands why JBL restarted the match for Bo with his foot on the rope but can't understand why it wasn't restarted when he got thrown into the exposed turnbuckle. He relates this to the Daniel Bryan storyline in WWE, meaning we'll be getting the same thing in NXT and he promises to get the NXT title in his hands for good. Renee Young is backstage with JBL and she asks for his reaction for what Sami said. JBL says he can't be brought and he did what was best for business and you won't see Sami again for a while and he needs to learn respect. JBL focused on Renee's shirt here for some reason, as a red blooded male I have to say it looked mighty fine.
CJ Parker vs. Alexander Rusev: I would much prefer the original CJ Parker here and by that I mean Pamela Anderson. Rusev alone here and with no board, I'm happy to see both of these things. Tie up and knees by Rusev then a kick. Falling headbutt and then the Vader running splash, followed by a running splash in the corner during which a random blonde women in a red dress walks out. Rusev grabs the accolade for a quick submission, man did CJ look like one of the putty portal here. It's funny that I mentioned Pamela Anderson as we got a random blonde women walking round and CJ was treated like a defenceless women in the match. The woman just walked round the ring and then left. This was nothing. Winner: Alexander Rusev
They show during the break Tyler Breeze hit the beauty shot, took his phone back and cut off some dreadlocks. It's then announced that next week they will have yet another match and it's just a normal match, a gimmick should have been added. Also next week is Paige vs. Summer Rae.
Corey Graves vs. Adrian Neville: After that attack earlier I personally would have booked this for another weeks main event, this program has been rushed so much. Neville hits a dropkick to start, the commentators are stating that Graves has put both losses on Neville in their tag title matches which is fine but Graves was the one pinned in the first match. Neville is all over Graves with kicks and dropkicks Graves to the floor he then hits a twisting heelio to the outside. Graves grabs a kick and starts to attack it, in a very nice spot he places the leg on the rope and goes for the jumping sit down on it but Neville moves and gets a school boy but rolls through and hits another kick for a 2. Graves gets a couple of kicks to the leg and puts Neville's legs awkwardly on the ropes where he drops a knee onto it. Leg snap by Graves and boots to Neville. Shin breaker by Graves with a fist drop after for a 1. A standing Figure 4 by Graves is now counted as a rest hold it seems. Neville gets some kicks but eats a headbutt after. Another shin breaker attempt leads to a sunset flip but Graves drops a leg on the leg after kicking out and back to the standing Figure 4. Neville fights back with elbows and some running forearms, he goes up to the top rope but Graves stands up leading to Neville jumping over and tweaking his knee but he recovers when Graves goes for the leg and gets a school boy for the 2, fans are awake for this now at least a little. Graves gets a chop block and Lucky 13 leads to the tap out. This seems to be the end of the program, a tap out win like this pretty much ends it as Graves didn't cheat once in this match and this was completely clean. After Graves puts the hold back on outside so maybe it's continuing but Neville looked pretty weak by the end. Overall this match was OK but nothing great, I expected more from these 2. Winner: Corey Graves
A very, very skippable show in my view. They rushed Graves/Neville so much in one show it was like an episode of Nitro back in 2000! CJ Parker got treated like a complete jobber, the Ascension got TV time again for some reason. The divas match wasn't bad though and the main event wasn't either but not worth searching out to watch. More importantly they're doing a storyline of no Sami Zayn on NXT! What the hell am I meant to do, there goes one of the best reason for watching NXT right there. Thankfully NXT has a great roster but still Sami is the MVP of NXT and should be on more shows and not less.

NXT October 16th Review: A Night of Champions

For the first time I can safely say I'm looking forward to a Bo Dallas match granted that's mainly because he's working with Sami Zayn but it's a key upside to someone who has been lacking such a thing.
Show starts with a promo package highlighting the feud with Bo and Sami for tonight's title match mainly showing Sami pinning Bo as the masked El Local 2 weeks ago.
The Ascension (Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor) (c) vs. Adrian Neville & Corey Graves for the NXT Tag titles: I've mentioned before that changing Neville's music was an awful move it's so generic. Renee Young is on commentary I think she's going to be doing more commentary. Rick and Corey to start, Rick keeps missing punches with Corey getting a couple of shots in and keeps throwing him into the turnbuckle. Corey gets a hanging leg scissors over the ropes, Neville gets the blind tag and springboard dropkick with 2 running elbows. Bodyslam by Neville who jumps to the top rope, Conor runs towards him on the apron but gets kicked away, Neville then jumps over Rick and runs off the rope leading to Conor low bridging the ropes and Neville flying to the outside and he grabs his leg. We go to break and come back to see Conor attacking the leg and tagging Rick, Conor then holds Neville open for a gut shot I guess they must read this and learnt to stop lifting them up for that double team. Tag right back out and Neville gets the boot up and tries to run under and then over Conor who throws Neville out but he gets the tag to a little reaction, Corey nails some elbows and an STO. Corey sets up for the chop block and gets it then locks in Unlucky 13 but Rick makes the save again little reaction. Corey crawls over and tags Neville who is still visibly hurt and reluctant to get in, he does while limping and Conor dropkicks the leg. Rick gets tagged, Rick goes to pick him up but eats a kick. Neville goes for the tag but Rick hits a knee and they collide heads leading to Total Elimination and the 3. They need to name that move and once again this match got little reaction and was probably worse than they're match 2 weeks ago. I don't see any upside to the Ascension even their entrance, which got them attention in the first place, isn't anything special. After Corey comes in and has a go at Neville, who apologises but Corey chop blocks the leg and attacks him, my only problem here is that Corey ran the ropes before the attack why would Neville still stand there he should have just kicked him. This was expected from the start of their team and Corey is probably better served as a heel. Winners and still champs: The Ascension
Promo for Hell in a Cell and Cena's return plays, it's a demonic video but I have 2 problems. 1) why does he have beef with Del Rio and 2) As Jim Cornette put it the return doesn't mean much, “He hasn't been gone long enough for us to miss him”. We come back with the commentators talking about the Graves attack.
Tyler Breeze vs. CJ Parker: Tyler gets a big reaction when he comes out. This feud is dreadful and it has been from the start. CJ gets booed. The 2 argue in the ring and CJ chops him to start then an airplane spin, Tony brings up the finish of their last match where it ended via iPhone shot and Renee brings up the good point of “Are they even dangerous they're tiny now if it was the 80's style phone it would be heavy”. Tyler goes outside and CJ follows, then gets a sunset flip for a 2 coming in and Tyler fights back with a shove to little effect. CJ misses a dropkick and Tyler gets a boot and grabs his phone then endless clubs only stopping when they hit the ropes. CJ pops up and goes for a punch which stops Tyler. CJ gets a cradle for a 2 then a dropping clothesline and Tyler begs off, Tyler then gets a thumb to the eye and a spinning heel kick for the win. A dreadful match and I don't want to see these 2 interact ever again! After Tyler goes for a selfie with CJ but CJ wakes up and uppercuts Tyler to boos, he then grabs the phone and takes photos with the crowd. Winner: Tyler Breeze
Paige & Emma vs. BFFs (Summer Rae & Sasha Banks): Matching gold gear for the BFFs. Paige and Sasha to start with Paige & Emma arguing who will start. Thez press by Paige and head pounds, quick tag out to Rae and Paige stays in control. Emma gets tagged and Rae runs into the corner getting the tag, Banks runs into a drop toe hold and then into the turnbuckle. Emma gets a sunset flip for a 2 then a cradle for another 2 and Banks gets a boot to the gut and Rae gets Emma's attention leading to the heat. I'd like to say at this point that the commentary has been pretty great on the show, Renee & Regal are just busting Tony's balls and making jokes but are also paying a lot of attention to the work in the ring. Rae gets tagged and a leg choke which is 80% of her offence. Inverted pedigree by Rae for a 2 followed by a laying down surfboard, Emma rolls out and gets a roll up for a 2. Rae keeps stopping the tag until she rolls out of the grip this lasted too long in my view, Paige hits her knee lifts on Rae and Banks grabs her when she attempts to get in the ring but she kicks her off and hits a dropkick for a 2. A Perfectplex by Paige, Tony calls it a snap and Regal corrects him. Emma comes in but gets throw out by Banks who is then thrown out by Paige allowing Rae to hit her Matt Sydal leg drop move for the 3. I don't know where they're going in terms of a title match maybe a Triple threat. This was pretty good match no complaints really. Winners: BFFs
Bo Dallas (c) vs. Sami Zayn for the NXT Championship: Surprisingly no promos from either man on the show before this. “No More Bo” chants from the start then it moves on to “Sami” chants. Bo seems to slip on his own feet to start, Sami grabs an arm ringer and Bo reverses it but Sami quickly gets an arm drag. Chant of “Bo has cooties”, random. Bo gets a cruifix pin and then a roll up and a school boy all for 2 counts. A tie up and headlock by Sami into a hammerlock back to a headlock until Bo escapes and grabs a headlock then hammerlock and strikes from behind. A series of knees to a downed Sami by Bo for a 1 , then more knees for a 1 and another pin. A great bit of story telling of Bo taking advantage of the first real bit of offence he got and not letting Sami up. Bo grabs an kravate and Sami gets gut shots but is cut off. Whip to the corner but Sami runs out with 2 clotheslines and a back body drop, he sets up the running mafia kick and hits it for the 3 but Bo put his foot on the rope leading to JBL coming out and restarting the match saying “This will not happen under his regime” and says “Referee don't make me learn your name”. Bo attacks from behind leading to a break, honestly I don't know if I would have done that false finish especially since Bo had his foot from the beginning of the pin he should have done that at the 2. Another demonic promo for Hell in a Cell plays this time for the WWE title match, sadly this program was killed by bad booking. We come back with Bo having a kravate and then hits a clothesline for a 2 then grabs the kravate back. Bo runs at Sami who low bridges him to the outside and nails a tope con heelo, back in and Sami goes to the top rope and hits a great cross body for a near fall. Sami sets up the kick again but Bo grabs the leg but is nailed with a Blue Thunder bomb for another near fall. “Let's go Sami” chants starts and Sami picks up Bo who gets a kick to the gut and a running side kick then a climb up bulldog for a near fall. Bo hits a reverse DDT for a 2, fans a super into this. Bo whips Sami and misses an armdrag, Sami then gets the boot up and a spear for a really good near fall. Sami sets up his climb up DDT but Bo escapes and crotches Sami on the ropes, Bo hits the spear but Sami kicks out to a huge pop. “This is awesome” chants, both struggle up and Bo hits a forearm he puts Sami on the top rope and attempts a superplex but Sami fights back and hits a sunset bomb for a real near fall. A German suplex by Sami who hangs on during which the turnbuckle pad on the low right corners top rope comes off, they head towards that corner but Sami gets another suplex, the ref removes the pad allowing Bo to throw him into the exposed buckle and school boys for the win. Easily Bo's best match I've seen and I just hope they do a rematch with Sami winning but a rematch in general would be good. This was a great match and they had the false finish to keep Sami as a title contender and Bo looked like the desperate heel by winning like that. Winner & still champion: Bo Dallas
The main event was a great example of what can happen when you put your top babyface (who is actually getting the reaction of a top babyface) against your top heel, the fans were invested from the very beginning until the very end and it only added to the match which to be far was a fantastic match regardless. Outside of the main event this wasn't a great show, we got some story progression for some feuds but the in ring stuff was just lacking and the fans reaction was with it, it was a pretty quiet crowd for the most part but an upside was the commentary this was one of the first weeks I really paid attention to them usually it's just background noise to me. So basically what I'm saying is listen to the show don't watch it.

NXT October 9th Review: SPOTLIGHT!

So RVD's on NXT, I'll be honest right now not the biggest fan of his in ring work so don't have high hopes but when put with the right guy he can be good let's see how they use him.
Speaking of Van Dam like last week they play the promo video for the guest tonight to start the show, the video makes Van Dam look awesome but all clips are a decade old or older. They've added Cesaro and Sandow to the NXT opening which makes little sense to me as they're seen as WWE guys and Sandow hasn't been in NXT for months now.
Leo Kruger vs. Antonio Cesaro: This match is a result of last week when both wanted to answer the Bo Invitational. Cesaro is pretty much a babyface in NXT without ever doing the Giant Swing. Bell rings and Cesaro hits a running dropkick and rips Leo's shirt off. Forearms and kicks until Leo hits a series of chops he then whips Cesaro to the ropes but he grabs them and ends up eating a clothesline to the outside. Leo follows and back racks then throws him into the apron and again. Leo chokes Cesaro with the ring skirt and drops an elbow, Cesaro rolls across the ring and hits a shoulder block then runs in with some knees. Fans are chanting “Push Cesaro” kudos to that! Cesaro hits a big boot and a double stomp then chokes on the rope, this is really coming off as a hard fight instead of a wrestling match. Cesaro hits a running football kick to the back follows with 2 suplex attempts but Leo gets the suplex and some gut shots. Leo puts the boots in the corner and a Russian Leg Sweep for a 1. Cesaro reverses the whip in the corner and nails a running European Uppercut for a 2. Cesaro hits an odd urinagi slam and climbs to the top but Leo catches him and gets a Superplex leading to the break. We come back with Cesaro getting knocked off the apron leading to a suicide dive. It's announced by the commentators that Aiden English is getting the match against RVD. Back to the ring and Leo hits his beautiful Spinebuster, when that move is done right I love it. Leo goes for the Slice Lariat but Cesaro escapes, Leo goes after him but gets thrown into the steps. Cesaro throws Leo back out of the ring and hits a back suplex onto the apron. Leo gets back in at 7 but again gets thrown out, Cesaro is going for the count out win. Cesaro hits a Gutwrench suplex on the ramp and Leo gets back in at 9. Cesaro hits a long series punches and uppercuts and then the Waterslide (haven't seen that in years) for a 2. Cesaro goes for the Neutralizer but Leo gets a body drop and then hits an elbow but runs into the pop up European for a 2. Cesaro grabs his choke sleeper with a body scissors, Leo starts fighting back but Cesaro hits a short arm clothesline and the Neutralizer for the win. A great match between these 2 with both looking great at the. After Cesaro hits a top rope knee drop and Leo grabs his throat, Cesaro looked like a killer by the end of this and Leo looked good by surviving so much abuse by Cesaro. Winner: Antonio Cesaro
Charlotte w/Bayley vs. Santana Garrett: Renee Young is one commentary for this one. I'd like to say again that WWE are sometimes awful with coming up with names! Tie up to start and they trade roll throughs while remaining tied up, Charlotte then gets an arm ringer which Santana rolls through and then Charlotte does a gorgeous cartwheel to reverse that. Santana pulls the hair and gets an elbow then drops Charlotte into the corner and hits a weak low running kick. Santana hits a Russian Leg Sweep into an arm lock during which Summer Rae & Sasha Banks come down for some reason. Charlotte gets out with a roll up and hits some chops into her drop down roll bridge move. Charlotte gets distracted and rolled up for a 2 but hits a firemen's carry flapjack and her flip low diamond cutter for the win. I've said before that a little bit more experience and Charlotte will be great, she has such a unique style and good look. Rae gets in the ring with a mic and says They are the first lady and the boss of NXT. They will run NXT and WWE and no one can do anything with Paige being out, this leads to Paige running in an attack them both but the numbers game gets her fans chant “Emma” and she does make the save. This kind of overshadowed Charlotte's match. Winner: Charlotte
A video for Goldberg's DVD play, spoiler alert there's a lot of spears and Jackhammers. We go backstage with Rae & Banks I'm so tired of them talking. They say the same thing they did in the ring and then challenge Paige & Emma to a match for next week.
Mojo Rawley vs. Danny Burch: Is Danny Burch Martin Stone? After checking he is and how did I not notice this before? I did wonder what happened to that guy. I guess Mojo's gimmick is he's always excited and full of energy, so a new age Ultimate Warrior minus the paint. Tie up leads to Danny hitting a shoulder block in the corner and a club to the back, Mojo blocks and the reverses a whip to the corner but Danny gets the elbow up. Mojo fights back and sends Danny into the corner but Danny gets a stiff punch to the face for a 2 then grabs a rear chinlock. Danny hits 3 elbows for a 2 and then grabs a arm trap head twist. Mojo ducks a clothesline and hits 3 shoulder blocks and 2 stinger splashes followed by a running butt butt and the Earthquake splash for the win. My one compliment is that finisher, he does get some nice height but he doesn't have the size to make that believable in my view he was only slightly bigger than Danny. Winner: Mojo Rawley
Backstage we see Emma with Paige and Paige says she didn't need her help but Emma disagrees. They get told about the challenge and both recap why they don't like the 2 so they both agree to the match.
Legionnaires (Scott Dawson & Alexander Rusev w/Sylvester LeForte) vs. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy: The team have a name and new music sadly LeForte still talks for them. I knew Enzo & Cass were the opponents as Enzo was written on the board. Enzo & Cass both have mics and cut promos, they interact with the crowd so well. Rusev and Cass to start with a tie up, Cass ducks a punch and gets one himself but then runs into an elbow but gets a knee and club. Tag to Enzo and Rusev no sells a punch and hits his knees on the ropes move leading to Scott getting the tag and a running back elbow for a 2. Elbow, knee and leg drop by Scott, a suplex and short arm clothesline for a 2. Back suplex by Scott for a 2, Rusev gets tagged and hits a running shoulder block in the corner and locks in the Camel Clutch which he calls the Accolade for the quick submission. Not much of a match here, Legionnaires attack Cass after the match and he locks on the Accolade on him with Scott getting in his face. With heel tag champs I would have put the faces over here to build them to challenge one week. Winners: Legionnaires
Backstage with Renee and she's with Sami Zayn, he says he feels great and now he has the spot and his plan is... Bo then walks in and says last week was uncool and he thought they were friends, it hurt his feelings. Sami apologises for that and says he has no problem with Bo and he wants that championship. Bo says they should team up instead and go for the tag titles, Sami says that's a good idea and he's in but they'll do it after he wins the NXT title.
Aiden English vs. Rob Van Dam: A little weird putting Aiden in this match, you're in the process of establishing him as a main guy but there's a good chance he'll lose here. Aiden does his singing entranc, he's now called the Artist Aiden English. Oh this was when Ricardo was still RVD's ring announcer. Another week with Alex Riley on commentary and I have to say he's been good all night at trying to put pretty much all these guys over one way or another. Tie up and RVD grabs a headlock and Aiden hammerlocks out. RVD shoves Aiden after and Aiden gets a headlock then RVD gets his leg scissors school boy. Aiden ducks down from a kick and we get the thumb point because well it's RVD and that's the majority of his work. RVD catches a kick and does his float over kick followed by his front roll monkey flip and clotheslines Aiden out. Van Dam then jumps over the ropes to the apron and hits a moonsault resulting in “ECW” chants. Back in the ring, another finger point and RVD his a slingshot legdrop on the apron for the 2. Aiden begs off and RVD gets a scoop slam and attempts Rolling Thunder but Aiden escapes. RVD tries to get into the ring and Aiden kicks the rope giving a low blow but no DQ here. Suplex by Aiden for the 2 and he grabs a chinlock. Aiden goes for another suplex but gets small packaged, RVD blocked being thrown into the corner with his leg and hits a kick. Series of clotheslines by RVD and a kick to the face followed by Rolling Thunder. RVD jumps to the top, another finger point and the Five Star Frog Splash for the win. This was pretty one sided, I knew Aiden would lose but this was mostly RVD if he had been given more offence for longer I think he could have come out looker better for hanging with Van Dam instead he was just the guy who lost to RVD in NXT. Winner: Rob Van Dam
I found this show slowly got worse as it went along and I'm not saying any of these matches were bad but if you had put them in the opposite order I think the show would have flowed so much better. Cesaro/Leo was main event quality while the main event came off as a squash really. At the end of this we know 2 things for next week we have the Women's tag match and Sami finally gets his title shot against Bo. Next week should be good.

NXT October 2nd Review: Funny works for me

On this week's show we are going to see the in ring return of Kassius Ohno and the Bo Dallas invitational. Out of the 2 I care about Ohno's return. Oh as the show starts I'm reminded that Fandango is going to be on the show in a mix tag match.
Fandango & Summer Rae vs. Emma & Santino Marella: Renee stops Emma as she comes out and asks who is her tag partner and out comes Santino, say what you like about the guy but fans are into him. They combine her dance with Santino's power walk. Renee then joins the commentary team. Fans chant “This is awesome” before it even starts. Santino & Fandango to start they do some dance moves and Fandango goes for a kick but it's caught so is Santino's and then Fandango gets a knee and punch. Santino floats over and goes for the cobra and then Emma comes in to have Santino do her dance with the cobra leading to break. We come back with Fandango kicking off Santino, Fandango then gets a boot to the gut but Santino gets 2 arm drags and tag to Emma by mistake as he just wanted a high five. Emma and Rae are now in but Emma tags straight back out and then again and again, Santino keeps high fiving Emma and the ref is counting it as a tag. Fandango then punches Santino when he turns around and hits a back elbow followed by choking on the rope. Suplex by Fandango for a 2, at this point I'd like to add that I really like Renee on commentary she's funny and is adding a lot unlike Alex Riley but he's better this week than previous. European uppercut by Fandango and a choke in the corner letting Rae slap Santino, Emma then goes to the floor after Rae letting Santino roll through and jump for the tag but no one is there. Santino attempts to nip up twice, fails and Fandango hits a boot. Fandango climbs up but Santino rolls to far out, he goes to the other corner but rolls again and then again until Fandango picks him up letting Santino get a backslide for a 2 Santino finally nips up and gets the tag, Emma with 2 clotheslines to Rae then locks on the dilEMMA and a low cross body for a 2. Santino gives Emma the cobra and Santino teaches her how to do it but Rae does her climb up DDT into head banging which is the one thing that takes me out of that moves if it was just a DDT it'd look so much better. Fandango is leaning on the top rope Emma throws Rae into his legs leading to him flipping in and clipping Emma with his legs, don't think that was meant to happen. Santino comes in to check, Fandango & Rae miss clotheslines and get hip tossed and double diving headbutts. Santino gets the cobra and hits Fandango for the win. Who said funny don't draw money! I loved this match, not only was it a fun comedy match but it got really hot and the fans were invested from the beginning. Winners: Emma & Santino Marella
Oh the tag titles are on the line tonight against the Ascension, thankfully Ohno vs. Luke Harper is next. We get a promo for Battleground, nothing can sell this show to me. The Ascension get a promo, they try to sell their win last week as something horrific, it wasn't not even close. They say they will take the tag titles home and that the heroes will fail and they will rise.
Kassius Ohno vs. Luke Harper: I'll be honest Ohno looks to be in a little better shape but nothing crazy. What I find funny is that last night I watched Chris Hero vs. Brodie Lee from IWA Mid South's Night of Champions show. Luke pushes Ohno into the corner and attacks, he then throws Ohno out violently. Ohno gets whipped and rolls over the ropes onto the apron to hit a shoulder block, and a big jumping kick but Luke comes back by getting his knee up and a big clothesline. Luke hits a headbutt and elbow drop followed by a reverse chinlock. Ohno comes back by running Luke into the corner, he starts fighting back and hits a jumping knee then a baseball slide to the outside. Back in and Luke hits a big boot and a corner splash followed by a discuss clothesline for the win, odd choice to go over here unless they'll be doing more Ohno vs. the Family which I kind of doubt either that or they're still punishing Ohno for some reason. Either way a good short match here, I don't think Luke shows how good he is in WWE. Winner: Luke Harper
Backstage Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy get a promo, Enzo says they were as close as twins to getting a title shot until the Ascension gave them they're first lose. They'll bounce back and Colin does endless insults to everyone and he keeps telling Enzo to shut up. A weird promo to be honest that just came off as random by the end. Another advert for Triple H's DVD plays, they really want to sell this thing. We then see a vignette for someone talking about hype mixed with him working out, I don't know who he is. Apparently his name is Mojo Rawley which sounds dreadful just makes me think of the Powerpuff Girl villain Mojo Jo Jo. He debuts next week.
Ascension (Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor) vs. Corey Graves & Adrian Neville (c) for NXT Tag team Titles: Still no reaction for the Ascension from the crowd. Neville and Rick to start, Neville ducks a clothesline and does a flip over a drop downed Rick followed by a leg sweep for not even a 1 and a back flip over Rick's leg sweep attempt and a dropkick for a 1, a really impression over segment from Neville. Neville hits a series of kicks to the chest and a headlock until Rick pushes him off and hits a jumping shoulder block allowing him to tag out. Conor with the Warrior style endless shoulder blocks and by that I mean 3. Conor with a knee to the gut and a suplex attempt but Neville floats over and tags to Corey. Corey hits a series of punches and then a dragon whip kick but Conor won't go down and hits a flapjack for a 2. Rick gets tagged and they do their stupid lift up double team. A few kicks and a tag to Conor again. A neck snap for a 2 and tag back to Rick leading to a break highlighting the Susan G. Komen charity and them having pink shirts all month long, a worthy cause. We come back with Rick locking in a camel clutch, Rick then whips Corey who gets a crossbody but not the tag. Riley says the Ascension remind him of the Road Warriors, I'd agree but these guys aren't over like they were not even close. Conor gets tagged and hits a leg drop while Corey is in a single leg Boston crab. Conor locks on a body scissors and then traps the arm around Corey's neck until he starts fighting back but Conor stops this by lifting him up in the body scissors and dropping him on his ass twice, that must be hard to do. Tag to Rick who does his chop/uppercut combo in the corner and hits a Firemen's carry drop for a 2 followed by grabbing a chinlock. Fans are chanting “You can't wrestle” to Rick, it's probably aimed at both but Rick is in the ring right now. Rick with a series of shoulder blocks in the corner but he misses a running one and hits the post. Neville gets tagged and hits a combo of kicks and dropkicks Conor, then throws Rick to the outside allowing him to hit a running twisting splash to the outside to them. Neville hits a springboard dropkick for a near fall, his offence is so pretty to watch. Neville then floats over Rick and does several flips/roll throughs to the opposite corner where he hits a kick to the head and climbs to the top but misses the Red Arrow as Conor pulls Rick but Corey breaks it up and drags Neville to get the tag. Corey goes for the leg clip but Rick hits what is now Daniel Bryan's knee strike aka Bushido knee. Tag back out and they hit Total Elimination for the win and the titles. Once again to no reaction as no one cares. Well I'm not surprised they won, Graves & Neville were thrown together and at least the Ascension are a team I imagine now Enzo & Cassidy will be put with them in the title program. But back to this match honestly it wasn't even that good of a match I expected a little more. Winners and new champions: The Ascension
We get a video showing that Rob Van Dam will be on NXT next week, that's cool I guess.
Bo Dallas Invitational:
Why does Bo have one black glove on? It must be a tribute for his family. Bo grabs the mic and the fans are all over him from the get go. Bo explains the rules basically saying if he gets beat then in 2 weeks they'll be a title match, his promos seem so forced. A skinny guy walks down and fans chant “Let's go this guy”. This guy has no name apparently. Tie up and a school boy by this guy for a near fall with the fans into it, they really hate Bo. Bo with a kick to the gut, a forearm and strikes in the corner. This guy eats a spear for the 3. Bo grabs the mic again he says he feels great and asks for someone else and out comes Leo Kruger but then Cesaro comes out and they stop each other from getting into the ring until both go in at the same time. Cesaro attacks Leo from behind and they start fighting letting Bo throw them both out. Out comes a luchador who leaps over Bo and hits a running Mafia kick in the corner for the win, he takes the mask off to show it's Sami Zayn. I think we were all expecting this kind of angle to happen in this invitational and at least now we're getting Zayn vs. Bo which hopefully will lead to Zayn as NXT champion.
I don't know how to feel about this show, there wasn't anything bad but nothing really stood out to me outside the first match. I am very annoyed that the Ascension have the tag titles but they make more sense then the former champs. Also very little was set up for next week except RVD being on the show. Again this show was good but nothing special outside the first match which I recommend if you like comedy matches.
