NXT 23rd October Review: What's Best for Business! Again

Going in blind for NXT this week and by that I mean I have no clue what to expect and not that I can't see the show, this review would be stupidly short if that was the case.
Emma vs. Sasha Banks: Smack talk and a push by Sasha. It's a 3 man booth this week with Tony, Alex Riley and someone else I have no clue who the guy is. Emma with a double leg takedown and head pounds. Emma gets a School girl for a 2 then arm drag and arm bar. Emma then gets her slide in sunset flip for a 2 and a cradle for another 2 then right back to the arm bar. Sasha hits a knee and makes fun of Emma's dance, looking like a little child in the process. Emma keeps getting thrown into the corner, Banks doesn't have much offensive moves here. Unsurprisingly Emma blocks the 4th attempt and throws Banks in there a number of times. Banks moves out of the way from a splash and Banks gets control back grabbing a rear chinlock leading to a break but we come back to the same hold on. Oh Tensai is on commentary what a strange thing to do with him and not even mention it off the top. Emma bridges back for a pin but Banks kicks out and grabs hold again. Emma finally gets out after forever but runs straight into a back elbow for a 2. Emma gets a slap and Banks goes crazy with clubs to the back but again she comes off as a little kid when she does it. Tensai brings up that Emma was trained by Lance Storm surprised that got in. Banks grabs the reverse chinlock again but Emma (like me) has had enough of it and break out immediately and starts fighting back with clotheslines. The dilEMMA gets put on followed by the Emma Sandwich for a 2. Catapult transition to the Emma lock but Rae jumps up, Paige makes the save but this distracts Emma allowing Banks to get a small package for the win. After Paige tries to clothesline Banks but hits Emma by mistake. This then just cut away randomly, a decent match between the 2 I think Banks has a longs way to go still and there was very little crowd reaction throughout. Winner: Sasha Banks
WWE.com exclusive is then shown, which negates the fact but whatever, with Bo Dallas from last week. He says he's still NXT champion and that's what matters and he's going to take a well deserved vacation. Such a geek but this character is working I will admit that. A video then plays highlighting the Corey Graves turn from last week, they added crowd noise for the match as there was none!
Graves is on the ramp and is going to give an explanation but Neville atacks from behind and the 2 brawl until referees break it up. Neville breaks away and hits a plancha. I know we're suppose to be really invested in this team breaking up but they were a thrown together team of a thrown together team this was meant to be Ohno & Graves.
Casey Maron & Tommy Taylor vs. The Ascension (Conor O'Brian & Rick Victor): Jobber A & B in the ring already. Please let this be quick! Chants of “Let's Go these guys” from the crowd proving my point that no one cares or likes the Ascension. Tie up by Casey & Conor leading to a body splash by Conor and tag to Rick with boots followed by chops & uppercuts. Firemen's carry slam to a tag and the Warrior shoulder blocks leading to another tag. Rick hits Taylor with a jumping knee, the Ascension then hit the H-Bomb and Total Elimination, which finally gets a name of The Fall of Man, for the win. The typical Ascension match here and by that I mean nothing of worth. Winners: The Ascension
WWE.com exclusive with Sami Zayn now, he says he had the title in his hands and he understands why JBL restarted the match for Bo with his foot on the rope but can't understand why it wasn't restarted when he got thrown into the exposed turnbuckle. He relates this to the Daniel Bryan storyline in WWE, meaning we'll be getting the same thing in NXT and he promises to get the NXT title in his hands for good. Renee Young is backstage with JBL and she asks for his reaction for what Sami said. JBL says he can't be brought and he did what was best for business and you won't see Sami again for a while and he needs to learn respect. JBL focused on Renee's shirt here for some reason, as a red blooded male I have to say it looked mighty fine.
CJ Parker vs. Alexander Rusev: I would much prefer the original CJ Parker here and by that I mean Pamela Anderson. Rusev alone here and with no board, I'm happy to see both of these things. Tie up and knees by Rusev then a kick. Falling headbutt and then the Vader running splash, followed by a running splash in the corner during which a random blonde women in a red dress walks out. Rusev grabs the accolade for a quick submission, man did CJ look like one of the putty portal here. It's funny that I mentioned Pamela Anderson as we got a random blonde women walking round and CJ was treated like a defenceless women in the match. The woman just walked round the ring and then left. This was nothing. Winner: Alexander Rusev
They show during the break Tyler Breeze hit the beauty shot, took his phone back and cut off some dreadlocks. It's then announced that next week they will have yet another match and it's just a normal match, a gimmick should have been added. Also next week is Paige vs. Summer Rae.
Corey Graves vs. Adrian Neville: After that attack earlier I personally would have booked this for another weeks main event, this program has been rushed so much. Neville hits a dropkick to start, the commentators are stating that Graves has put both losses on Neville in their tag title matches which is fine but Graves was the one pinned in the first match. Neville is all over Graves with kicks and dropkicks Graves to the floor he then hits a twisting heelio to the outside. Graves grabs a kick and starts to attack it, in a very nice spot he places the leg on the rope and goes for the jumping sit down on it but Neville moves and gets a school boy but rolls through and hits another kick for a 2. Graves gets a couple of kicks to the leg and puts Neville's legs awkwardly on the ropes where he drops a knee onto it. Leg snap by Graves and boots to Neville. Shin breaker by Graves with a fist drop after for a 1. A standing Figure 4 by Graves is now counted as a rest hold it seems. Neville gets some kicks but eats a headbutt after. Another shin breaker attempt leads to a sunset flip but Graves drops a leg on the leg after kicking out and back to the standing Figure 4. Neville fights back with elbows and some running forearms, he goes up to the top rope but Graves stands up leading to Neville jumping over and tweaking his knee but he recovers when Graves goes for the leg and gets a school boy for the 2, fans are awake for this now at least a little. Graves gets a chop block and Lucky 13 leads to the tap out. This seems to be the end of the program, a tap out win like this pretty much ends it as Graves didn't cheat once in this match and this was completely clean. After Graves puts the hold back on outside so maybe it's continuing but Neville looked pretty weak by the end. Overall this match was OK but nothing great, I expected more from these 2. Winner: Corey Graves
A very, very skippable show in my view. They rushed Graves/Neville so much in one show it was like an episode of Nitro back in 2000! CJ Parker got treated like a complete jobber, the Ascension got TV time again for some reason. The divas match wasn't bad though and the main event wasn't either but not worth searching out to watch. More importantly they're doing a storyline of no Sami Zayn on NXT! What the hell am I meant to do, there goes one of the best reason for watching NXT right there. Thankfully NXT has a great roster but still Sami is the MVP of NXT and should be on more shows and not less.
